Sherlock Holmes
The new BBC series of ‘Sherlock Holmes’ seems to have filled an otherwise barren void in Sunday night viewing. I was pleasantly surprised by the BBC’s efforts to capture both the traditional elements to this classic character, and the magic of his character we saw recently portrayed in the box office success of last year. The text messages typed out on screen for us to see was one of the clever touches that added pace and vitality, while the slightly doddering landlady remained true to the original scripts and period it was created. I was however left slightly bemused by the character of Sherlock himself being dragged into the present day, while most of the time this was carried out with a clever charm, there were times where he would, in the present day clearly just be sectioned ! – But then again it is just a story, so with that in mind, I will eagerly await this week’s Sherlock fix. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer
